ANNUAL REPORT 1999

 

EQUIPMENT AND OTHERS

  • Built a system with 60 glass tanks (smalls and big tanks) and its accessories.
  • Field trip around Durango, San Luis Potosi and Michoacan.
  • 15 species were caught.
  • Food supply for fish.
  • Blower for the aeration system.
  • 4 plastic pools for Artemia sp production.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

  • Ex-situ conservation program
  • Historical distribution of Mexican Goodeids
  • Reproduction biology of Skiffia lermae and Zoogoneticus quitzeoensis
  • Captivity breading program

DONATIONS

  • Donation of 100 fishes and 8 species to El Charco del Ingenio Conservation Area in the state of Guanajuato. The species donated were: Chapalichthys pardalis, Characodon audax, Zoogoneticus tequila, Goodea atripinnis, Hubbsina turneri, Skiffia francesae, Xenoophorus captivus and Notorpis calientis.
  • Donation of 50 fishes and 3 species to the University of Morelos, the species were: Zoogoneticus tequila, Characodon audax and Allotoca dugesi.
  • Donations to European and USA aquarists.

EQUIPMENT AND OTHERS

  • Built new 70 glass tanks (smalls and big tanks) and its accessories.
  • Field trip around Durango, San Luis Potosi, Jalisco, Mexico and Michoacan.
  • 20 new species were caught.
  • Food supply for fish.
  • 6 new plastic pools for Artemia production
  • Built 3 soil pools with a capacity of 60,000 litters.
  • Built an experimental recirculation system with a capacity of 10,000 liters.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

  • Ex-situ conservation program
  • Historical distribution of Mexican Goodeids
  • Feeding behaviour in larvae of Allotoca dugesi and Skiffia multipunctata.
  • Feeding habits of Allotoca meeki in the wild.
  • Captivity breading program.
  • Integrity Biotic Index in Lerma Basin in the state of Michoacan
  • Integral management of natural resources in the Zacapu lake

DONATIONS

  • Donation of 200 fishes and 14 species to San Luis Potosi Zoo in the state of San Luis Potosi. The species donated were; Chapalichthys pardalis, Characodon audax, Zoogoneticus tequila, Allotoca meeki, Characodon lateralis, Allotoca dugesi,  Skiffia francesae, Xenoophorus captivus, Ataeniobius toweri, Xenotoca eiseni, Skiffia bilineata, Ameca splendens, Xenoophorus captivus and Allodontichthys tamazulae.
  • Donations to European and USA aquarists.

  • Built a system with 30 plastic tanks and its recirculation system.
  • Field trip around Jalisco, Michoacán, Guerrero and State of Mexico.
  • 5 species were caught.
  • 3 pumps for the recirculation systems.
  • Blower for aeration system.
  • Drift nets (10, 5 and 3 mts long)

  • Donation of 30 fishes of Chapalichthys encaustus to UNAM Histology Laboratory (Dra. Maria del Carmen Uribe)
  • Donation of 50 fishes and 3 species to the University of Morelos, the species were; Zoogoneticus tequila, Characodon audax and Skiffia francesae.
  • Donation of 15 fishes of Skiffia lermae to Ecology Aquatic Laboratory in FES-UNAM University.
  • Donations to European and USA aquarists.

  • Built a photoperiod and temperature control recirculation system.
  • Field trip to Panuco river and Michoacan.
  • 7 species were caught.
  • 7 Artemia culture tanks.
  • 1 computer.
  • 25 Hydrographic maps for all the Mesa Central of Mexico.
  • Aquarium accessories.
  • Plastic plants.
